DRED SCOTT VS SANFORD 1857
WHAT HAPPENED?
Dred Scott was a slave who had lived on the Illinois/Wisconsin Territory for 5 years and, backed by interested abolitionists, sued for freedom on the basis that he had been living on free soil for so long.
The North supported him the whole way through.
