Missouri Compromise of 1820

What was it?

The Missouri Compromise was one of the events leading up to the civil war. This agreement made Maine a free state and Missouri a slave state. It declared that anything above the 36'30" latitude line would become "free" states and anything under that line should remain slave states.

The south was also pleased with the outcome of this compromise. They were happy that they had Missouri and all of their southern states having slavery.

What did the North think?

The north was satisfied with the way this compromise came out. I'm sure they would've liked for Missouri to be a free state, but overall they were pleased.

What did the South think?

Over all this compromise was liked by both Northern and Southern states
