Turgor Pressure: Why Is It Important To Plants?
Turgor pressure is the outward pressure of water in the vacuoles of plant cells, which allows them to maintain their full square shape. Without an adequate turgor pressure, the cell could either shrink away from the cell walls, the membrane tearing off, or possibly bursting from the extra content within the cell. This means that the turgor pressure in the cell needs to be just full enough so that the cell continues to maintain health and homeostasis within. Without such, the cell would die.
