In the 1820's, people thought that African Americans are not equal to the white community and were not as important. They believed that African Americans should not be apart of the white community. Yet, the blacks felt as if America was their home and only 1,400 went back to Africa. The blacks and whites started to join together against slavery, and supported abolition, which was the call to outlaw slavery.
