Generals and Leaders of the Civil War

The North and the South were involved in the battle of the Civil war. They were both trying to win for their own rights as south wanted to keep the idea of having slaves and the north believed it was wrong along with other cultural conflicts between both sides. During the Civil war there were many obstacles including disease wounds and not enough supplies for both sides. The north ended up winning the war due to President Lincoln's love for the telegraph and because the north used trains as a way to transport more troops and supplies to the front lines of the battle for the North. two of these battles were the battle of Gettysburg which had 51,000 casualties and the battle of Chickamuaga which had 34,624 casualties.

There were many generals and leaders of the Civil War but I'm going to name some that I picked included general Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Robert E. Lee was the commander of the Army of Northern Virginia. Robert E. Lee became a famous general after he took command of forces in Virginia. Stonewall Jackson on the other hand was considered a "war hero." He was one of the South's most successful generals during the American Civil War.
