Modern day baseball is more advanced and has more rules than olden day baseball. There are two leagues: American League(AL) and National League(NL). Teams from different leagues barely play each other. When they do, it is called inter-league play. Each league is divided into divisions. An example of a division is the AL West Division. This group contains the Oakland Athletics, the Texas(Arlington) Rangers, the Anaheim Angels, the Seattle Mariners, and the Houston Astros. There are also trades. These happen when players go to different teams to fill spots for other players. Each season 162 games long. Or from April 1st-September 31st. If you are leading your division at the end of the season, you go into the playoffs. If you pass every round of the playoffs, you go to the World Series. This determines if you are the best team. If you win, you get a huge trophy. During the offseason, you can trade and buy players and staff members.
