Jaundice
-when baby has high levels of bilirubin in his/her blood
-bilirubin builds up faster than liver can break it down and pass it from body
-frequent feeding is important to encourage stools
-skin and eye whites turn yellow
-physiological (normal) jaundice appears within a few days after birth and resolves itself by 1-2 weeks
-common condition in newborns
-high levels are treated with light therapy
