Newborn Procedures
Clearing Airways:
-removal of mucous & amniotic fluid from baby's lungs
-done with bulb syringe from baby's nose and mouth
-if possible done on mother's chest
Keeping baby warm:
-very important to keep baby warm
-baby is placed immediately on mother's chest and both are covered with blankets
-mother's heat will keep baby warm
-if medically necessary baby will be brought to warmer
