Range
What is range?
Range is the span of numbers from the smallest to the largest.
How do you calculate range?
largest number minus smallest number
For example:
3.7.2.9.5. 9-2=7
The range equals 7.
Mean
What is mean?
The average of a group of numbers.
How do you calculate mean?
1.) add all of your numbers together
2.) divide sum by how many numbers were there
For example:
1.2.3.4.5. 1.)1+2+3+4+5=15 2.) 15/5=3
The mean is three.
Median
What is median?
Median is the middle number of a group of numbers.
For example:
.9.5.7.3.6. —> 3.5.6.7.9
The median is 6.
How do you calculate median?
1.) line all of the numbers up from least to greatest
2.) cross out numbers from both side one at a time
3.) if there's one left in the middle, you've found your median.
4.) if you have two numbers in the middle, add them together and divide by two.
