Mitochondria
Mitochondria are threadlike or oval shaped membranous organelle, in living cells they constantly change shape. They are referred to as the powerhouse of the cell for they create the most ATP (adenosine triphosphate). The mitochondria are enclosed by two membranes the first as a outer layer and the second which helps in the production of ATP. Mitochondria also contain their own DNA and RNA.
