Interpretation

Line to draws the eyes to the focal point of the painting. Natural shapes and forms are used to communicate the nature aspect of the work. Texture adds realism to the piece, but the minimal texture makes the painting hazy. Color shows shadows and contrast between light and dark and rough and smooth.

These elements and principles create a hazy painting which suggests that it is a dream or a hazy memory. The line drives my attention to the person in the middle and tells a story. The dark color creates a dreary and sad atmosphere about the painting and the texture adds minimal realism to the piece, still keeping its dream-like effect.

Judgement

I feel drawn into this work because of the minimal realism about it. If seems as if there is more for me to figure out about this piece than meets the eye.

The artist has created a visually interesting work because the viewer automatically wants to learn more about the painting.

The artist had been successful in communicating the content of his work. He makes the viewer think about a distant memory of a bleak time.
