Interpretation

1. The people form a diagonal line traveling up to the right through their height and positions. The trees and mountains from a triangle with their height. The shadows on the mountains form a diagonal line up to the right. The texture of the mountains and trees adds realism to the painting. Space makes the painting look like the real place; everything is proportionate to each other.

2. These elements and principles help me to realize the true beauty of the piece and the amount of work that was put into it. I appreciate how realistic it looks and feel as if I could just walk straight into it. The cliff in the middle of the painting suggests uncertainty.

Judgement

1. I feel drawn into the work and connected with the subject because of the details of the trees and mountains and the people on the ground. I feel as if I am peering at them from far away and I wonder what they're doing.

2. This work is very interesting to look at because of the background, middle ground, and foreground. The transitions between those three sections are very smooth and the people look very interested in something.

3. I think the artist has been very successful in communicating the content of his work and did an excellent job luring people into the painting.
