Judgement

The painting draws my eye and makes me wonder where it takes place. I feel as if I am actually at the waterfall and I can reach out and feel the roughness of the rocks and wetness of the water. I wish it was a little brighter but the picture is depicting what the artist saw, so it's possible that it really wasn't bright. In my opinion, this oil painting is very interesting, but not busy. It's simple and straight to the point. The artist successfully communicated the beauty of nature in its purest form. He showed that even the simplest of things like rocks and water can be considered beautiful.
