My Interpretation

1.

Waterfalls follow a diagonal line from the left to the right, and then the left again. It shows a rough texture around the rocks creating the illusion of rapids. The water shimmers when touched by light to create a more realistic effect and is positive space that acts as if it is falling off the painting. The rocks are rugged and rough and show wear and tear from wind and water. None of them have perfect shapes to show the imperfection of nature. Darker rocks show shadow caused by light and other rocks.

2.

The elements and principles create a very natural and imperfect look. The light is calming until you reach the rapids, which causes the picture to pick up the pace and rush off the canvas. The painting doesn't seem to end. The eye travels down until there is no more painting.
