Gupta and Maurya Empire

-Chandragupta and Asoka ruled during this period
-Wide spread of Buddhism
-Missionaries were sent out to spread Buddhism
-Mauyra Empire declined after Asoka's death and shattered once battles began again over the Gangetic Plain.

-After 500 years of Mauyra empire, the Gupta's united most of India
- Gupta's promoted strong central government that promoted peace and prosperity
-During Gupta reign, India enjoyed GOLDEN AGE (a period of great cultural achievements)
-People became advanced in mathematics, medicine, physics, languages, literature, and other subjects
-Developed the decimal system
-Herbs and other remedies were used to treat illnesses
-Doctors also found a vaccination to cure small pox.
-Gupta empire eventually declined due to weak rulers, civil war, and invaders.
-Once again India split into two kingdoms
