Interpretation:

1. Color: smooth white throughout

-only one color on entire stool

-neutral but bright and inviting

2. I decided to use this color as the sole color of my entire piece because I felt it was still a relaxed neutral color like most of the ashanti stools , but also had life. On top of that, it didn't overpower the pattern that covered a majority of my piece, but actually highlighted it.

To me this piece is very elegant and provides a unique take on the normal ashanti stool. I think it really demonstrates the ashanti belief in " the rule of the possessor". This particular piece is very individualized to the artist's taste. It has such an abstract form, especially in the 'x' like beam.

Judgement:

-overall I admire the uniqueness of this piece. It has a very diverse firm that easily attracts viewers and maintains their attention. It definitely is a visually intriguing piece, leaving viewers wondering more about it. I think the artist did a wonderful job of taking a traditional ashanti composition and individualize nag it. In this way, it does reveal ashanti ideals to viewers.
