The Cult of Domesticity
African Americans were not the only people going through social problems. Women were as well. Women were expected to only take care of housework and the children, nothing else. These ideas were soon titled the Cult of Domesitcity. The few women that did work out of the house earned half of the wage that the average man made. When a woman married a man, her money and belongings become her husbands.
