Major Leaders in Abolition/ Emancipation Reform/Their Accomplishments
William Lloyd Garrison was a very radical abolitionist. He created a paper to send his message to end slavery, it was called "The liberator". In 1832 he started the New England Anti Slavery Society. People against abolition hated Garrison, others stood by him.
Frederick Douglass was born in 1817, his parents were slaves. Douglass was a worker at a ship yard. Douglass began public speaking about slavery and abolition, he quickly became successful. In 1847 he started a paper, called The North Star.
