Sedimentary Rock

Sedimentary Rocks- A rock that is formed by sediments are called Sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks are formed in layers because the sediments are pressed together in layers. The sediments can be picked up by wind, water and ice. The sediments are usually carried by moving water such as rivers and streams. Soon after, the sediments get dropped off in a new place. After a while, new sediments are dropped on to the old sediments. Then the weight from the sediments pushes on the other sediments and forms a sedimentary rock. Water also puts pressure on the sediments.
