The Declaration of Sentiments
In 1848, the Declaration of Sentiments was the beginning of the federal suffrage movement in America . It included a list of grievances from the suffrage movements and defended the idea that women should vote in their own goverment. It was signed by 68 women and 32 men. It was written by Elizabeth Cady Stanton to mimic the Declaration of Independence. In the declaration, it states the rights they should have as women.
