Question & answer

Question: what is a rainforest ecosystem like?
Answer: let's say you are in a dense forest and a hot damp climate ecosystem. You can be in a tropical rain forest. In this ecosystem the nutrients in the soil are very poor and also rains a lot in the rain forest. However, out of the whole earth this place has the most life. On the earth the rain forest cover less than six percent of the earths surface. Yet rain forests are home to about 50 to 70 percent of life on earth. Tall trees of rainforest provide the ecosystem different layers. The top of the tall trees are known as the emergent layer. They usually get lots of sunlight but also can have high winds. But below the emergent layer of the forest is the canopy. Most of these rainforest animals live in the rainforest because of all the sunlight and food. In the canopy you can find snakes, tree frogs, and toucans.beneath the rainforest canopy is the understory. Not much sunlight reaches the understory because the canopy layer has so much shade. You can find jaguars, leopards, frogs, and insects. On the forest floor it is darker than the understory. Since there is so little sunlight there are hardly any plants. In this layer decomposers work faster. If a leaf falls on the ground it might be able to decompose in less than two months. In other climates it might take a whole year. In a tropical rainforest it can get up to 457 centimeters of rain in the whole year.
