10.Thirty Years War

Although the Religious wars were over over in the Holy Roman Empire fights broke out when unhappy Protestants threw two Catholic officials out the window. They did this because the king of Bohemia wanted everyone in the kingdom Catholic and he closed all Protestant churches. In Prague Protestants overthrew their Catholic ruler and replaced him with a Protestant one even though it didn't solve anything. This revolt spread around and created a rebellion called the Thirty Years' War.

The Holy Roman Emperor couldn't handle the fighting and looked for help. Protestants later also looked for help. The Catholic king of France helped the Protestants because he didn't like the Roman king. Later in the war countries fought for more than religious problems. In Europe their leaders wanted to end the fight and created a peace offering. It let the rulers of each country decide what religion they would be. The states of Germany also became independent. The Holy Roman king was no more.
