5. King Henry VIII
King Henry VIII was the major figure of the reformation. He had no sons to take over the throne and his wife couldn't have more kids. He asked the pope if he could end his marriage and get another wife. The pope refused. Then Henry decided that he didn't want to listen to the pope. He created a new church called the Church of England, Anglican Church. When he did this Protestants beliefs took hold in England.
