Life before World War I
- England was the most technologically advanced place on the earth.
- England was considered the center of manufacturing in Europe.
- They had territories in India,Australia, Canada and South Africa. These places were in great demand to have colonies in because of raw materials these countries produced.
- Political reform took place and the British parliament was democratically elected. The downfall was that only those whom owned land could vote.
-British rulers sought to stay away from war as long as they could.
-The unification of Germany caused England to be suspicious of them because of their nationalism and growing industrial economy. The rise of Kaiser Wilhelm II also strengthened this suspicion.
