When did it take place?
The California gold rush took place in January 24, in the year 1848. During the year 1849, most treasure seekers came in the hope to find gold which were called the 49r's. In the 1850s, California was admitted into the Union and became the 31st state. By the mid-1850s there were more than 300,000 new settlers. The gold rush was the largest mass migration in the U.S. history. Easily found gold like placer deposits have been picked up. After that, gold had to be crushed out of tons of rock or away from Hill sides with powerful jets, in other words it needed an industry with expensive machinery to find gold which led to the end of the California gold rush in 1855.
