Father Charles E Coughlin
Roman Catholic Priest from Detroit
Initially a supporter of the New Deal, Coughlin soon turned against Roosevelt because he disagreed with some of FDR's view points.
Coughlin was able to voice his economic, political, and religious ideas through his radio sermon broadcast. These opinions he voiced included his disagreement towards the New Deal and his clashing views with Roosevelt.
Coughlin favored a guaranteed annual income and the nationalization of banks, unlike FDR.
At the height of his popularity, he claimed an audience of as many as 40-45 million people.
While he had great ideas and important opinions, his increasingly anti-Semitic views lost him a lot of support.
