Douglass

Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, born February 1818 died February 20, 1895

Because he was born into slavery, he was educated to the level of a 4 grader, and then was forbidden to read and write. When he fled, he taught himself to read and write.

"The white man's happiness cannot be purchased by the black man's misery."

He was born into slavery and separated from his mother at a very young age.

Because he was born into slavery, he was passionate about the topic and wrote very aggressively.

Because he escaped slavery, he was able to write from the correct standpoint and get legitimate facts about it.
