"If women want any rights more than they's got, why don't they just take them, and not be talking about it."

Truth

The Narrative of Sojourner Truth

Sojourner Truth born 1797 and died November 6,1883

Since she was a slave, she did not have any education.

Truth was a slave who had many owners. When she was sold, she had five children with another slave, one of which died, most likely, in infancy. She was given freedom in 1826.

Truth writes very directly and sometimes points to things that would not normally be talked about. She writes this way because she did not have an education, and was a slave in her childhood.
