Black Ships Before Troy

Chapter 2

King Peleus and Thetis had their second son, Achilles. The gods promised Thetis that if she dipped Achilles into the River Styx it would make him immortal. Thetis held Achilles so tightly by the heel that the water didn't get to him. So Achilles is vulnerable in that spot. Achilles was trained with Patrolocus by a centaur in how to fight. Thetis hid Achilles among women to keep him safe from war. Odysseus dresses up like a trader to give trinkets to the princess. Achilles picked up a sword and all the other kings and chieftains rejoiced with Achilles joining them. Achilles went home to get his ships and men ready for battle. Achilles mom tells him that if he goes to battle he will die, but he goes anyways.
