Black Ships Before Troy

Chapter 1

Troy was a city surrounded by walls. King Priam made Troy rich by collecting tolls. King Priam and Queen Hecuba had a baby boy named Paris. The soothsayer predicted that Paris would be trouble and eventually burn down Troy. King Priam sent Paris into the forest to die, then a herdsman found Paris and raised him. Paris grows tall and strong and marries a wood nymph called Oenone. The three goddesses saw Paris and wanted him to choose the fairest. Athene promises wisdom, Hera promises power and honor, and Aphrodite promises a pretty wife. Paris chooses Aphrodite and the other two were very mad! Later, King Priam gave Paris a house in Troy, Paris would still visit Oenone every once in a while.
