The Land Between Two Rivers

Mesopotamia means "The land Between Two Rivers". Euphrates and Tigris rivers would overflow and leave silt. Silt is small rocks and a mixture of rich soil. When the rivers flooded their banks the people of Mesopotamia learned how to build irrigation systems. Droughts could be for a long period of time but they had surplus.
