Cuneiform
The Sumerians invented their own form of writing. Their own form of writing was called cuneiform. Cuneiform was the first writing systems invented in the world. Sumerians used sharp reeds to scratch the records on clay tablets. Dried tablets became into permanent records. Over time Sumerians scribes developed faster ways to write. Few boys can write but rarely girls. Students learned how to make clay tablets and reed pens. Students practiced writing cuneiform signs over and over.
