Hammurabi's Code of Law

A ruler named Hammurabi came to Babylonia in 1792 b.c. Hammurabi ruled all of Mesopotamia. He sent governors, tax collectors, judges, and military command to all his land. Hammurabi carved the laws on an eight foot slab of black stone. On the black stone listed 282 laws. Most people couldn't read so some people had trouble knowing what the laws were. Some of the laws covered religion, irrigation, and military service. Hammurabi's kingdom began to crumble after his death in 1750 b.c.
