Fear

The iconic Life Alert opening line, "I've fallen and I can't get up!" Is a perfect example of the commercial placing fear upon the viewer. Nobody would ever want to be in a situation where they don't have access to help hen they need it, especially when life is one the line. The target audience is elderly people who are at risk of a life threatening emergency and the families have concern for the safety of their loved ones. This is an example of pathos because it plays with the emotions of the person watching the advertisement and makes people believe that without life alert, they are at an extremely higher risk of harm from an emergency.
