Later Career

Mother Teresa quickly grew in public fame, and was a figure of faith and charity in the twentieth century. She traveled all over the world establishing foundations, and schools around the world. For example, she established her first American based house of Charity in 1971. Later in 1982, she traveled back and forth between Christian East Beirut and Muslim West Beirut, helping, many times saving, the children and people on both sides.

By the time of her death in 1997, the Sisters of Mother Teresa had grown to almost 4,000 members, and 610 foundations in 123 countries of the world.
