Early Career
After one year in Ireland, Mother Teresa was sent to Darjeeling, India to continue her training. In 1931, at the age of 21, Mother Teresa made her profession of vows, then was sent to Calcutta to work at as a teacher for girls of the poorest families.
In 1937, she took her final profession of vows, after which she took on the name of Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa continued devoting all of her time and effort to the education of underprivileged girls until 1944 when she became president of the school. Mother Teresa often wrote in her prayers about leading the girls to education, and to God. She wrote, " Give me the Strength to be ever the light of their lives, so that I may lead them at last to you."
