Color

Color plays a very important role in garments. It is one of the number one things that draws a customer in. Just like lines, colors also trick the eye into making something appear differently. An example of eye trickery would be ombré clothing (monochromatic), it adds the affect of a garment fading and can make the bottom or top appear wider than the opposite side.Color hues are split into two groups. Warm and cool. Warm colors usually attracts a customer and makes a space on the garments appear bigger. Warm colors include the colors yellow, orange, and red. Cool colors are blues, greens, and purples. Generally cool colors do the opposite of warm colors and actually make a space on the garment appear smaller. As you may have heard before, darker colors actually do make you appear slimmer and brighter colors make you seem fuller. Color can do a lot to your complexion, for instance lighter color makes the facial area appear nicer. Color can also portray a certain mood towards people. For example, usually when people are wearing red they feel fierce and sexy. If they are wearing blue they can have a calming feel to them. Knowing how the color affects your appearance really helps for people to find what fits best for them.

In the images above you can see that the black makes for a more slimming appearance to it and the dress on Leighton makes the body look a bit fuller than it really is due to the bright colors used in the garment, but it does add more interest and attraction than the outfit to the right of it.
