Emphasis

An emphasis or focal point on a garment or outfit is the same as it would be on different items. It is where your attention goes to first. Outfits should have a very minimal amount of focal points since too much overwork the outfit or garment. A focal point can be done with colors or patterns and different designs done to garment or outfit.

This outfit the left is filled with focal points. The first one would be the dress itself because it stands out from the color since it is the only chromatic color paired with an achromatic. The second would be the shoulders of the blouse because of the design it has going on. The last focal point would be the slit of the skirt because it's an interesting cut.
