Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix is a romantic French painter. He developed a more romantic and freer style of art with particular emphasis on color. Liberty Leading the People inspired him by the French Revolution of 1830. Delacroix began his career as a mural painter. These murals are the finest French decorative paintings. Delacroix's work is romanticism because it expresses feelings of the people within the image and imagination because most images are not realistic.
