Texturizing Techniques
- thinning: uses thinning shears and takes weight out. lightly soften the edges of the hair, place the thinning shears over the section to be cut and move the shears back and forth
- point cutting: removes length and creates softness in the perimeter. 1"-1&1/2" inches into the hair, angle the blades slightly, cut a "V" shape into the hair
- slide cutting: slide the scissors down the hair shaft closing the blades slightly. creates separation, takes out bulk, adds in softness.
- slithering: back combing motion with the scissors, blade closing slightly. creates separation, takes out bulk, adds in softness.
- twisting: twist hair and bring it down the hair shaft opening and closing the blades. creates volume & movement.
- channeling: slide the blades diagonally across the section, reduces bulk and weight in a non uniform fashion
- razor tapering: use at ends with a 45* elevation. Use extreme caution on curly hair.
- back slashing: Create a circular section on the top of the head, encompassing the crown, and let hair fall away If not, reduce the size of the circle.
Pick up a subsection of the circular section and strongly back-comb it. This hair should stand off the top of the head on its own. Place an open blade of the scissors into the back combed subsection and slide it up toward the ends
