Gupta Empire
-it came about in 320 A.D
-it ended around 550 A.D
-Hinduism is their major belief in the Gupta Empire

--we got the 9 digits, the zero, and the decimal all from the Gupta Empire
-they had a strong government
--some local leader became powerful
--some leaders were elected by merchants and artisans
-it wasn't as big of a rule as the Maurya Empire
-during the Gupta Empire was the start of trade and farming
--farmers grew crops such as wheat, rice, and sugar cane
-the caste system was a big thing during this time, it influenced people's lives
-the wealthy people lived in "joint families"
-the children worked on the field, and they learned all about their past family
-they had to marry in their group from the caste system
--the most popular type of marriage was called Swayamvara
-the women were very restricted
--the wealthier ones had to be covered from top to bottom
--the lower class women had to work
FACTS ABOUT PEOPLE IN THE GUPTA EMPIRE
-they had artist who were the best at sculpture that they made out of stone
-they had painters, and musicians
-it was founded by a guy named Maharaja Sri Gupta
-it was very neat
-the military had to protect the villages
-it was also called the "Golden Age"
-they got paid to work on roads and other public works
-their main food was whet which the harvested and the got milk from cows
-they invented the games chess, polo, and playing cards which still exist now
-the older kids went to school and some even lived there
--they had to everything for themselves
--They studied math, science, engineering, literature, art, music and religion.
