Indus River Civilization

The time of the Indus civilization

-It started at 2600B.C.E.
-It flourished for about 700 years
-it came about the time of Ancient Egypt

-they made a living by farming and trading
--most people were farmers
--they grew wheat, barley, melons, and dates
-other people were merchants and traders
--they brought different things to distant places
-the Indus vessels went to Sumer
-the people in the Indus Valley started a new type of writing which scholars think that it came across by the contact with Sumer

Religious beliefs

-it got developed from clues which were from small clay seals
-people believe that they were polytheistic which means they believe in more than one god
-they honored a mother goddess, the source of creation, so was a male god
-they thought some animals were sacred
-scholars think that their beliefs influenced Indians later
