-Pataliputra was one of the largest richest cities of its time
-they spread Buddhism
-the empire lasted until 187 B.C.
-the religious life was characterized as Brahamanism

Asoka

-he was a ruler, who doesn't like being harsh
-his grandad was Chandragupta, who ruled before him
--his grandfather had established the first Indian Empire
--they ruled differently, Chandragupta was harsh and Asoka believed differently
-he sent missionaries to spread the word of Buddhism, he wanted to get people to become Buddhist
-he created laws called Asoka's laws
--they were in more than 30 places
--they traveled to India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan
-he was ancient India's greatest ruler
-after he died the empire ended

Chandragupta

-he was the first ruler during the Maurya Empire
-he was a harsh ruler
--he collected money from people
--he built roads and harbors for transportation
-Chandragupta found Mauyra empire
-he was afraid of death
--he would get someone to eat his food before him to make sure no one poisoned him
-he had secret gaurds to find people who weren't doing the right thing then they would kill them
-after his death his grandson ruled
