Caste system

-It influenced life in the Gupta Empire
-caste was closely linked to Hindu beliefs
- different people were in different groups of the caste system
- a web of complex caste rules governed every aspect of life
- you have to be in a special group to get a certain job
- depending on which group you are in you get to do special things and you can only marry the people who are in your group
-the higher the class the more strict the rules you have to live by to stay in the group

- if someone would die, then you would be reincarnated into the group you died in
-The person who died doesn't know how their life was before, but they can tell if they were good or bad by the group they got born into
-over time different castes and subcastes were created
-when people moved, they created new castes
-they were allowed to live side by side
-after awhile, their were many castes created
