Education for Women
-Until 1820s, girls had very few places to get educated after elementary school
-1821: schools opened up for girls, but were widely criticized and not thought of as great
-1837: a college for women opened up in order to shut down the ridiculers
-1834: African Americans were brought into the schools because they were being discriminated against and the school was forced to shut down until after the civil war
