Major Leaders in the Women's Education/ their accomplishments
-Emma Willard: Opened the first academic school for girls in Troy, NY; despite much mockery
-Mary Lyon: found Mount Holyoke Female Semimary, later named Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, MA
-Quaker Prudence Crandall: opened school in Canterberry, CT. Admitted African Americans because they were being segregated and had the school shut down; until the end if the Civil War, when it began to expand again
