Asoka the Great

(@PeaceLuvAsoka)

After the reign of his grandfather Chandragupta and another emperor, Bindusala, Asoka the Great came to power. Asoka neglected the harsh ruling style of his predecessors and ruled by moral example

Asoka ruling was based off of Buddhist principles. He implemented principles of ahimsa, non-violence to all living things. Asoka practiced religious tolerance all over the empire but after his death the empire declined

Asoka put up pillars of his law all across his empire. His laws were based off of Buddhist principles. The stupas, or pillars of law, were spread as far west as Afghanistan. These laws are a concrete example of just how far the empire stretched.
