The Maurya Empire was founded at around 321 BC by Chandragupta Maurya. This empire was one of the world's largest. The capital, Paliputra was one of the richest cities in that time. Buddhism spread widely across the region through Asoka's laws. These laws were one of the Maurya dynasty's greatest achievements.
