Slavery and Abolition Ch 11, 12, 13, and 14

Slavery was highly favored in the South. They treated the people like property and in no way like people. The North was against slavery.

In the South, the runaway slaves had little fate ever escaping and didn't believe they could ever become a free man or woman. If someone found a runaway slave were paid if they returned them. African Americans that were accused could not testify but were found guilty almost 99.9% guilty.

Abraham Lincoln was a player for the North who was very important because of the power he had. William Lloyd Garrison founded the Anti- Slave Society. Some of the major political players in the south included Sarah Grimke and Angelina Grimke who were antislavery activists

Abolition was portrayed during the Civil war because the Democratic Southerners didn't want to come to an end of slavery.
