Gravitropism/ geotropism:
A growth response to gravity. Positive geotropism is when the stem is growing towards the Earth's core or in the direction gravity pulls. Negative gravitropism is when the plant is resisting the pull of gravity and growing upwards , away from the Earth's core.
Heliotropism:
Or “solar tracking,” is the process by which plants’ organs track the relative position of the sun across the sky, much like a radio telescope tracks stars or satellites. Plants will follow the sun parallel to their leaves to receive more sunlight.
Phototropism
When plant growth responds to a unidirectional light.Positive phototropism of stems results from cells on the shaded side of a stem growing faster than cells along the lighter side. As a result, the stem curves toward the light.
Thigmotropism
A growth response to touch.Tendrils can store the sensory information when it is touched, but light is required for the coiling growth response to occur. Thigmotropism by tendrils allows plants to “climb” objects and thereby increases their chances of receiving light for photosynthesis.
